Esfandiar studied at the Johannes-Keppler University in Linz/Austria and at the University of Passau, where he also gained his doctorate.

Prior to the establishment of BOTTERMANN KHORRAMI, he held several professional positions: he worked at the Berlin office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer with focus on issues concerning EU legislation on emissions trading and worked for a medium-sized Berlin law firm in the areas of commercial and real estate law.

Esfandiar was appointed as a notary in Berlin in 2024.
