It is told that on June 6, 1995 John Baur and Mark Summerswere played racquetball, not well but gamely. As they flailed away, they called out friendly encouragement to each other -„Damn, you bastard!“ and „Oh, jeez, my hamstring!“ for instance – as shots caromed away, unimpeded by our wildly swung rackets. Who knows? It might have happened exactly that way.
Anyway, whoever let out the first „Arrr!“ started something. One thing led to another.
At first an inside joke between two friends, the holiday gained exposure when John Baur and Mark Summers sent a letter about their invented holiday to the American syndicated humor columnist Dave Barry in 2002.Today the International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.

We obtained this particular piece from the US. We bought it as a reward for a particularly lengthy and cumbersome deal we advised on. We actually purchased it from the train travelling back to Berlin after the deal had closed. And what a trip Captain Solo took. The keen vendor wanted to ship to us but seem unable to find the appropriate shipping company. He said he could send to “a place called Heidelberg” and if that were close enough. Well … Eventually, the piece arrived in Berlin allright in. However, we had to convince the customs officers that it falls into the category of original sculptures and statuary.
Since clearing the last obstacle (getting the piece up in the elevator) Captain Solo inspires us and our visiting clients on a daily basis as he is positioned prominently in our offices.

Fast alle Jahre wieder lassen wir uns von sportlichen Höchstleistungen und dem stimmungsvollen Drumherum inspirieren. Dieses Jahr von den olympischen Spielen in London. Zwei Wochen langt kämpft die Jugend der Welt im Gold. Wir sind Im Herzen und mit unserer Bürodeko dabei während wir für unsere Mandanten kämpfen. Kommt uns besuchen, seht es Euch an.

Hans Schüles Skulpturen zeugen von einer erstaunlichen Kraftanstrengung im Ringen mit dem Material und der Form. Das Ergebnis ist hochgradig durchgearbeitet, doch wird den verschiedenen Metallen wie Stahl, Kupfer oder Aluminium auch eine Präsenz als Werkstoff zugestanden.
Insgesamt 4 Hans Schüles Floating Exposes sind bei uns im Bottermann::Khorrami Office zu finden.
